About the Training:

Virginia Victim Assistance Network is excited to partner with Justice 3D for an 8-hour training focused on victims’ issues in Virginia. Join fellow victims services professionals for this engaging and comprehensive discussion of current legislation, implementation of laws, and relationship building in order to better serve victims. The content will primarily focus on domestic and sexual violence. Attendees will also have the unique opportunity to participate in an Ask Me Anything with Justice 3D on a broad range of subjects, with questions submitted prior to the training event.

Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions for the Ask Me Anything with Justice 3D. The form can be accessed here: https://forms.gle/iJrWKyTuubbbhqfB7 All questions must be submitted by October 31.

Training Agenda:

The training will include:

  • An in-depth overview of newly enacted laws in Virginia, with a focus on firearm laws
  • Training to facilitate strong, working relationships with prosecutors and law enforcement in order to more effectively serve victims
  • A thorough discussion of how domestic violence laws are implemented, ranging from requirements of law enforcement officers to how prosecutors navigate cases if a victim is uncooperative
  • AMA with Nancy Oglesby and Mike Milnor of Justice 3D, a former prosecutor and law enforcement officer.

There will be scheduled breaks as well as an hour allotted for lunch at noon.

The webinar will be hosted on Zoom. A recording will be made available to all registered attendees following the event.

About the Trainers/Speakers:

Nancy Oglesby and Mike Milnor, Justice 3D (justice3d.com)

Nancy Oglesby:

As a career prosecutor for over 20 years, Nancy has handled thousands of domestic violence, child abuse, elder abuse and sexual assault cases.  In addition, she has trained allied professionals nationwide including prosecutors, law enforcement officers, advocates, medical professionals and forensic interviewers on the issues surrounding these types of crimes.  She has had the opportunity to be appointed to state committees and task forces in these areas by four Virginia Governors.  She also co-authored Virginia’s Model Law Enforcement Protocol in the areas of Domestic Violence, Stalking and Child Homicide Investigation  

Nancy has been recognized as the Virginia S. Duvall Distinguished Juvenile and Domestic Court Prosecutor, the YWCA Outstanding Woman of the Year in the area of Law and Government, and the Lecturer of Merit Award in honor of her leadership and commitment to the training of Virginia Prosecutors.

Mike Milnor:

Prior to co-founding Justice 3D, Mike had been involved in law enforcement for over 34 years, most recently retiring as Police Chief of Altavista, Virginia. Over the years he has worked in various positions which include Interim Sheriff, Director of Public Safety, Coordinator of an FBI/Virginia State Police multi-jurisdictional task force, Senior Supervisory Investigator, uniformed Deputy Sheriff and Polygraph Examiner.

In addition to being involved in thousands of investigations, Mike has also done an extensive amount of teaching in criminal justice with an emphasis in the areas of sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse and domestic violence.  He has been a Professor of Criminal Justice at Liberty University, as well as lecturing across both Virginia and the United States. In 2016, Mike was selected to the core faculty of the National Center for Campus Public Safety.  This position allowed him the opportunity to instruct at colleges and universities across the country in the areas of sexual assault investigation, Title IX and Cleary Act compliance, and campus violence. Mike also co-authored Virginia’s Model Law Enforcement Protocol in the areas of Domestic Violence, Stalking and Child Homicide Investigation.
