VIRTUAL BASIC INTENSIVE ADVOCACY TRAINING (BIAT)

REGISTRATION OPENS MARCH 1st!

The Virginia Victim Assistance Network (The Network) and the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance (The Action Alliance) are pleased to announce our first-ever

VIRTUAL Basic Intensive Advocacy Training (BIAT).

About the Training:

The BIAT is a collaborative-focused, 2 1/2-day training designed for both victim-witness and sexual and domestic violence agency early career advocates who are in their first two years of advocacy work.

This training provides and overview of the role and responsibility of advocates; the guiding principles of a trauma informed response and the impact and effects of trauma on individuals; an overview of the civil and criminal justice system and tools available for effective advocacy; the importance of a collaborative response and the value of self-care and self- reflection in our work to support victims of violence.

The BIAT provides participants with the opportunity to learn about statewide resources that can support their work as well as opportunities to network and enhance relationships with others doing victim advocacy work in Virginia.

Training Agenda:

Agenda details coming soon!

A certificate will be provided for advocates who attend both days of the training and all sessions.  Following completion of the training evaluation, which will be emailed to attendees after the event, you will have the opportunity to print a fillable certificate.
