Connect, Collaborate, Innovate: A Coalition Building Forum for Victim Witness Directors."

Tuesday, August 31 - Wednesday, September 1, 2021

The Hotel Roanoke in Roanoke, Virginia

About the Forum:

This 1 ½ -day, interactive Forum is designed exclusively for Victim Witness Directors to come together in a collaborative setting to network, learn from each other, and ultimately, to further develop and strengthen victim witness partnerships and coalitions across Virginia.

The tentative agenda includes facilitated round table discussions, coalition building activities, and a networking lunch and evening reception on the first day.  The Forum’s logistics and agenda are based on the creative suggestions and valuable insights gained from the Survey for Victim Witness Directors' Coalition-building Forum distributed in December 2019 and another survey in May 2021. This survey had an excellent response rate from new and seasoned victim witness directors from across Virginia.

Dress is casual, however training room temperatures can vary, so dressing in layers is the best option. A forum evaluation will be distributed to attendees after the event.

Forum Registration:

  • Registration will CLOSE: Friday, June 25th

Encouragement to Attend!

To encourage dynamic and diverse attendance, the Network will reserve and pay for overnight accommodations and self-parking expenses at the Hotel Roanoke for the first 60 Victim Witness directors who register on or before June 25th.  Hotel accommodations and self-parking includes the evening of August 30 and August 31.  Please note that you must work or reside at least 40 miles from the Hotel Roanoke to be eligible for the overnight accommodations. Directors may send an assistant director or coordinator in their place if they are unable to attend -- a total of one per agency is eligible for the lodging scholarship.

If there are more than 60 registrants, the Network will make every attempt to coordinate a block rate of rooms at a nearby, overflow hotel for additional paid registrants, as needed, and to be paid for by the registrant (not VVAN). Lodging information will be emailed separately to these registrants.  The deadline to register for any lodging to be paid by the Network is June 25th.

All registered by June 25th will receive notification by June 30th as to whether or not they were in the first 60 to register :)

Parking:

Self-parking will be covered for ALL who register and submit registration payment by the payment deadline of August 2nd.
