A Focus on Regional Crisis Response Teams: Working a Familicide Through a Case-based Lens

About the Training :

In this training, participants will hear a first-hand account from the victim witness professional who responded to a 2014 Washington County, VA familicide. Using a case-based training approach, participants will connect research, theory, and practice as they work together in breakout groups to discuss their reactions and responses if faced with a similar situation. In addition, participants will hear from a panel comprised of the victim services professionals who collaborated on this case. Participants will be exposed to crisis response best practices rationale, regional-level need for coordinated crisis response teams, and how to access a regional response in Virginia.

Who:

Victim witness advocates, domestic and sexual violence advocates, any professional who works directly or indirectly with victims of crime (such as social workers, therapists, etc.)

Where:

This virtual will take place via Zoom. Registered attendees will receive the Zoom link to join the training the week of January 11th. It is highly encouraged attendees be able to participate with video on.

A Zoom recording will be made available to all registered attendees who participated in the training. Due to the highly discussion-oriented nature of case-based learning, a recording of this training will not be made available to those who did not attend.

Registration opens December 11th and closes January 11th or if/when we reach max attendee capacity.
