This session is part of the Exploring & Expanding Advocate Wellness virtual series facilitated by Kim Flournoy DiJoseph, The Network's Wellness Consultant. The series borrows from the NCVRW's 2022 theme of "Rights, Access, Equity" and invites victim advocates to explore and expand these themes in relation to our own well-being. There is no cost to attend these virtual sessions.

Access to information and the criminal justice process is a critical right of victims. In this session, we will gather for some real-talk about advocates’ actual and perceived barriers to accessing wellness for ourselves.

Let’s come together to explore and inspire each other and ourselves to move past what blocks us from accessing what we need to be well. Why is it so difficult for advocates to create (and protect!) time to ensure we are caring for ourselves?

This will be an interactive session with time in large and/or small breakout group discussion to have honest sharing of gaps and hurdles in engaging in self-care as well as an exchange of ideas of ways to overcome these limitations.

Following this session, advocates will have concrete steps to actualize their own wellness plan and/or a-ha moments to continue to reflect on.
